Roadside Assistance not towing back?

Hello Everyone!

So to be out of luck I had to ship my Lr2 and Lr4 to the dealer for different issues (The Lr2 leaking a lot of engine oil and the Lr4 had one of the black plastic trims that hold the windshield in place fly off while driving. I could see the windshield gasket out of place too.) I called roadside assistance and they told me to definitely ship them. The service was done and they are ready now. The problem is that they want me to go pick them up. Last year when I shipped my Lr2 they brought it back home. This time no one mentioned that it was only a one way ticket. The problem is I live about 180 miles away. How do they expect me to bring two vehicles back? What I was told was that my service manager needs to contact the regional manager and have him approve this. I am probably going to be hearing from them until Monday. Any suggestions or advice?

Thanks for the suggestion Savannah Buzz! Do you know why they might not want to ship them back? Like I've mentioned they have shipped my LR2 twice back to me. The first one was because the engine was acting up and the second one was because someone at the dealership left a pair of pliers, a bottle of oil, and the battery cover loose under the hood. Inside the truck the light domes were disconnected and the wires were hanging down (The second one the dealership messed up). This time I was not told that I would have to pick up my trucks. I would understand if it was my fault, but it is not mine. Thanks

You need to throw yourself on the tender mercies of the general manager or the region/zone manager. Greyhound bus go that way? Ride down, drive back, repeat.

Basically anytime you have your vehicle towed to the dealer its up to you to get it back. They should have shipped you a rental car at least one or two. But no matter its up to you to get there and get the vehicle back. The only time they cover a long tow is trip interruption. But you were not on a trip and you made it home. Now they may get one covered cause you can't get two back home. Sorry but you live 180 miles and you will have to suffer the consequences of buying a vehicle so far from the dealer. Most if not all manufacturers are the same way. They pick up the tow but you get your butt back to the dealer to pick it up.

I ended up asking a friend to drive the 2nd truck back. Thanks everyone for the advice!

kapil: You can actually file a complaint in the customer complaints forum. And as soon as you have posted in it, the service center manager will beg you to take that post away and they will be eager to do anything you want them to. This is the best thing to do if they do not consider your request.
