Default Garvin Wilderness Rack for LR DI or DII - $500

I bought this rack several years ago for family trips to the beach. It's in good condition with minor scuffs and scratches from service, and surface rust where scratched and on the fasteners, but there is no other damage (nothing bent, nothing broken). It's spent the last few years off the truck and stored in my basement.

The Garvin web page first says it’s 84” long by 54” wide, and later says it’s 72” x 54”. I measured it and it’s actually just over 82” long and it is 54” wide. Both sunroofs operate without restriction with the rack installed. It’s load capacity is 500 lbs.

I’ve slept on this rack under the stars several times using just a sleeping pad. I’m 6’1” and it’s very comfortable. The flooring bars are close enough together to that it handles most loads easily. I’ve not had a need to install the popular poultry flooring but that could be done easily and inexpensively. I’ve walked around on the rack several times arranging and securing loads. For as much as the Safety Devices-style roof racks look good they need flooring to approach being as functional as this
rack.

All mounting hardware is included. Garvin sells accessories to mount axes, shovels, jacks, wheels, lights and more, or you can easily fabricate your own with a trip to the hardware store.

Garvin still sells the same rack for over $900 shipped. Weighs 95 lbs. (w/o shipping materials). It would probably need to be shipped in two packages. My price is $500 for local pickup, or $550 for it disassembled and boxed, plus actual shipping cost from 28277 (Charlotte).

As mounted on my truck a few years ago. I no longer have the ARB bumper.

I had this rack on my first D1 and it was solid as a rock. However! Do not go through a drive-thru, attempt a parking deck or any trails with low hanging heavy branches. It will make contact with all three. Ask me how I know.

If you still have it in early June, I'll drive down from NY to get it.

Hell I'm tempted to grab it for my 110 if memory serves those garvin racks will work on basically any rover as long as it has gutters to mount it on

ArmyRover - Thanks for your interest. Your advantage is that you and I could meet in Columbia. I measured the distance between the gutter mounts and they're 57½" on-center. I don't know the width of the gutters on your 110. The Garvin web site is not as specific as I would hope. They don't spec any rack for a 110 but they do show a shorter rack for a D90. It's 60" wide, whereas this rack is 54" wide.

Mollusc - Thank you for your interest. The challenge in shipping is that I expect I'd need to disassemble the rack and then find boxes or shipping tubes large enough and sturdy enough to handle the parts. I will also look into alternatives to ship the "body" of the rack still assembled with the gutter mounts and other hardware shipped separately. Maybe bus freight? Or maybe a U-Ship service. I'll see what I can find, but if you have any expertise please let me know.
