2006 range rover sport reliability
hey everyone,
I'm new to the whole range rover scene, so i do not kno anything about this brand. Before i decide to buy one i wanted to learn a little bit. One thing i have came across was reliability concerns. I have tried to do some research, but some websites say they are reliable and some also so they are a pain. So i decided to ask people who have actually owned a range rover not just someone who tested it. i am looking into buying a 2006-07 range rover sport (not the s/c one) with about 20-40k miles, but i do not want to spend $35-40k on something i am going to have constant problems with. can yal give me some input on your experiences with owning a range rover?
thanks,
Robert

RE: 2006 range rover sport reliability
Welcome! I've never owned a RRS but my Rover's (4 over the years) have been reliable. Not as reliable as say Toyota but pretty reliable. RR's do REQUIRE preventive care or you will have costly problems. The air suspension and such can't be neglected. There are also going to be quirks with the electrics. Unless you just expect to get a car and do nothing to it I think you'll be happy with a Rover. It may constantly have little things popping up but the major problems normally arise from neglect, in my experience.

I agree, the newer ones are not as bad as people say but there are horror stories. If you are going with an '06/'07 then you shouldn't have too many issues but buy the newest one you can afford and get the warranty.
If reliability is a serious concern you may be better off looking to Lexus trucks as they have almost no issues. My 2004 RX330 with 70,000 miles has had less problems than my 2007 RR with 18,000 miles. With that said, the RX does nothing for me emotionally and is just my beater.
It is a personal decision but we will be interested to hear what you end up doing...

2006 Range Rover Sport (not supercharged)...So..I fell in love with one...32k miles, one owner....asking $34k...
But the reviews are horrible on the reliability side...Can anyone verify the extent of the issues? Maybe tell me how to identify certain "Hotspots" to look at...
I think I can get this truck for about $26-28k..and really don't want to buy a $4000 warrenty...
Interested in opinions...and thanks for reading..
