I drained the transmission fluid, removed the pan, replaced the filter with a new one, managed to replace the pan with new gasket, and bolted it back together. Hooray!!!!! Now my new-to-me Range Rover is sitting in my driveway because I CAN'T FIND THE TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK AND FILLER TUBE!!!!!!!!

The engine compartment picture I found on this site that shows how to read the dipstick looks nothing like mine.

there is no dip stick or filler tube on those. all you have is a filler plug on the side.

 

How do you get enough fluid in without it overflowing the plug?

Mike & Arsell:[/align][/align]Thanks for the help. It was a bit intimidating at first, but after spilling about 1.5 quarts all over the ground (newspaper). I finally managed to get it filled and it runs great![/align][/align]I plan on doing it again, but I want to know if there is some type of pump I could use next time. As it was, I had to rig a long plastic tube to a funnel that I bungie-corded to the grikk rack. That worked okay, but I couldn't see when it overflowed and had no control. I considered one of those gasoline containers that has a pump, bt wasn't sure it would pick up trans fluid.
