Compressor Replacement - RRS 2006

Compressor Replacement - RRS 2006
I have a RRS 2006 (2.7 Diesel) - and have just started to get the dreaded dashboard faults. Suspension Fault, Normal Ride Height Only etc. Also, the vehicle will not raise to access height - gives instant suspension fault warnings.
I had this on my Discovery 3 - and new compressor installed and all good a few years on.....
How do I determine which compressor I need to buy to replace the current one (without having to update software) ? The vehicle is early 2006 and I have my VIN number (SALLSAA136A937880) - but I still see a number of different options when I look at replacement compressors.
Also, should I change the entire compressor or chance the drier only ?
Any advice appreciated.
Andy.

Andy,
very few if any diesels here, mostly a North American/American forum so we didn't get the diesels until recently. Best try would be disco3.co.uk for engine stuff just in case
You can use the hitachi or the AMK compressors but by your model year you would be using hitachi from the factory and thus have that firmware loaded. Whichever you replace it with, AMK will need the firmware loaded, use a GAP tool or have a dealer load it in. There are also updates to the original firmware for both as I understand it to make them more robust.
You can change the drier or the unit itself, depends on which is the issue.
