Yes, if the system sees the rear hatch open or say a rear door and it is left over a period of time then they system will drop to crawl mode. If you need bags then I would replace them and not worry about them. I keep one for the rear just in case I need a spare to get by with.

Yours only dropping in the front is a little odd so I am not sure what the true cause is.

Well I have a 2000 P38 with 85k on it and I have the same problem down in Maryland. The issue that I have diagnosised is your bags have cracks in them. When it is warm the plastic bags are not as brittle when the tempature drops. I have cracks in my front bags and then are fine in the summer but as soon as it gets cold, the vehicle drops to the bump stops. The reason that I am replacing the bags now is because I think that the pump is working harder in the colder temperatures to keep the bags filled with air. It's cheaper to go ahead and replace the bags now, then to replace the bags and a new pump.

I just ordered a pair of front bags from Arnott Industries for $239 total including shipping this morning. Mention the ebay price from their ebay store and they will drop the price and provide you with free ground shipping.

You have leaks that is for sure. I had leaks in my system, and cold weather definitely made them drop. Check rangerovers.net for info on E.A.S.
