2003 RR HSE - Oil Leak and Suspension Issues
We've had our truck for 4 years now and its had some of everything replaced on it. We recently started smelling oil as we drove the truck. Nothing ever has leaked on the ground but we decided to take it in to be checked...the dealer told us we needed to replace the valve cover gaskets, rear main seal and coolant cover plate. They are estimating 10 hours for the rear main seal and coolant cover plate install which is $975 alone, just labor. I know this may be an extensive job but that's alot! Does anyone know if it "really" takes that long? Sometimes I think the dealer is trying to just take my money because I'm a female.
THEN also, I had it checked because my Suspension system kept going inactive. Now it stays that way...before it was some type sensor. The message never stayed so the dealer said it wasn't a necessary right away fix...now the message stays on.

The inactive suspension error could be a number of things: Range Rover III Air Suspension Common Faults
You can have any BMW mechanic replace your valve covers, and it can be done for a lot less. Don't go to a dealership, go to an independent rover or bmw mechanic.
