no a.c. belt on newly purchased
hello all,
I recently purchase a range rover classic(1990).
after the power steering pump replacement, a fuel pump replacement, and a left front caliper replacement it is nearly road ready. when checking to see if the ac/heat worked I noticed the ac compressor had no belt. why would somebody remove this without replacing it? does it have an effect on the heating as it is also not working? anybody know what that belt is named specifically as I cannot locate one. the tachometer is out, any coincidence?.I'll stop right there with the questions. thanks for all your help in advance.

The AC compressor may be bad and that is why, if you try it and it screams then you have your answer. Some people pull them off too because believe it will unleash ectra horse power. What people forget is that the AC compresor runs for the defrost function as well since it dries out the air when it heating it.
Find a new belt and then see what it does, you can also check the oil/coolant level in the compressor as well and get an idea of what may be wrong.
