Default P38 2.5 DT 1995 Lack of power after decelerating

Hello everybody,

I only found one guy with the same problem:

every time I release the accelerator, after about 1 second, the injecton malfunction lamp lights and in the same time the injection pump is dead! Immediately after a pair of seconds, the lamp is off and the pump is working again.

If you consider that this happens every time I have to change gear (Manual transmission) and once the lamp is off the pump restarts suddenly with strong and sometimes violent kicks on all the transmission. Besides, driving the car is very uncomfortable.

Someone said is the injection pump regulator, must be changed but it's and expensive repair.

I think: can it be just the electric accelerator? Everytime I release it, it looks like there is a point of no contact on its circuit and the ECM read it like a malfuncion cutting the fuel. Can it be?

Anyone with the same problem?

Thanks for your attention!

Giuseppe

I wish I had an answer for you but most of the guys on here do not have a diesel. If you look in the Discovery 2 section there are a couple of diesels from the other side of the pond, they have more suggestions on it.

Welcome to the forum though.
