Year of the range rover would help. The 95 to 99 used a dipstick, 99 to 2002 they used a fill plug.

If you have the 95-99 with the dipstick, it actually tells you on the dipstick itself how to check it properly.

If a 2006 is leaking that much you may have some big problems. That is way too early to leak like that. I don't know for sure but you most likely have to get underneath and find the fill plug to check the fluid.

the fill plug is on the right hand side above the rear corner of the pan it takes a 8mm allen to open it,
check this level with the engine running and the trans at temp. After you have put the selector through all of the gears
in other words dont open the plug till these conditions are met or you may have a gusher.
Find out where the leak is coming from it might be a loose cooler line connection dont over tighten the banjo bolt if it is a cooler line
