Starting to look into Evoque

we already own 2 LR3's so know what is what with those, the wife fancies an Evoque probably 2013-2014 year. Been looking at the ranges and apart from luxury upgrades there does not seem to be a stand out Model that is the one to go for. Any one want to chip in with some advice? She does want Nav, back up cam full length sun roof and terrain most seem to have all she wants. Will probably not go with Pure Base model.

We had a 2013 and now have a 2016. The newer model has three more gears which reduces the turbo lag. It also has a smoother and more comfortable ride. Nonetheless, the 2013 was problem free for three years and was overall a good car.

Never owned one, but these are typical for service loaners from my dealership for the last few years. Probably driven 10 different Evoque's in recent years, and the turbo lag is still my main complaint, comparable to the 1.8T in the Audi A4. Our altitude contributes to the turbo lag here in Colorado. Once the turbo is spooled up, altitude is a non issue.

Quick update with the 2017 Evoque I'm driving today. Treated it like the old Mustang SVT from the 80's with the turbo. Held the brake and revved it to around 1600 RPM, released brake and floored it. Much quicker launch than normal, not that I would make a habit of doing so without risk of transmission damage.

The turbo lag is a bit of an annoyance. The gas pedal can be more like an on/off button if you aren't used to the car. Had our 2013 Evoque Pure Plus for a year now and had no problems aside from condensation in the tail light and some haunted interior lights that would go on and off by themselves. Both were fixed under warranty.

If I recall, the 2014+ came with the ZF 9 speed which has gotten solidly mixed reviews. A lot of issues with it in other cars it went into (like the Cherokee, dropping gears, etc.) but seems mostly related to programming and software. We avoided it for that reason.

It gets a lot of attention and everyone loves it. The Pure Plus looks to have everything you are looking for.
