Did I buy a pig in a poke?

Hi Everybody, Newbie here. I'm not new to Rovers but new to this Rover. I bought it a few days ago not running for cheap. The previous owner said that it ran and drove but sometimes ran rough so he took it into a mechanic to look at. The mechanic took the fan and one VVT solenoid off and then went out of business. Then a year later, the owner finally got it back in pieces. I bought two new VVT solenoids and seals but did notice that one VVT mount is theaded and the other is not (see pictures below). There were very few metal shavings on the side that had no threads. So in the end I'm thinking that the mechanic tightened the one solenoid too much and snapped the threads right off the engine. So my next question is: it looks like after I remove the valve cover, there is another cover that covers the VVT mount on the front side of the head. Can I just bolt the broken mount off and bolt a new mount on? I didn't find much information on this on the internet.

The VVT mounting holes can be seen on the right and left side of this picture.

Looks like the threads are a pressed in insert almost. I wonder if they are and spun right out with the old part. Good luck it’s a shame love the L322 especially that color

These are the parts I bought.

I found the answer. It looks like the mechanic did snap the threaded part off the VVT solenoid mount. So now I have to remove the front cover and cam sprockets and replace the VVT mount. I don't know if this would help many other people on this forum because I think that snapping the threads off of this mount is a very isolated incident. But anyway, here's the link to the process of replacing this vvt mount. https://vanos-bmw.com/m62tu-vanos-procedure-e39-e38-e53
