1997 P38 Engine Disabled Code!
I recently purchased a 1997 Range Rover P38 with 148,000 KMs. Overall in very clean, driving condition. I wanted to use it as my winter vehicle!
After a month of ownership, and 1000kms (600 Miles) later i went to open the vehicle and it wont start! It says engine disabled. I have the key fob, but it doesn't work! I replaced the batteries, its still dead! I have purchased some used Key Fobs, can these be used? I need help here. I understand it would be much easier if my Key Fob could talk to the vehicle. I reached out to my Land Rover Dealership, (Car didnt come with security Code) and they wont tell me the code, and they cannot get Key Fobs for this vehicle. The only thing that has changed when I unlock the car, it only unlocks the drivers door now, and not the other doors. Needing help Team. Thanks. |
The P38 won’t accept other fobs. My suggestion would have been to unlock it with your working fob. My next suggestion would be to enter the EKA code via the driver’s door key. There are some good YouTube videos on entering the EKA for the P38.

I see you’re in the US. Most NAS P38’s have 1515 as the code.
|
There is also a time delay. If you’ve just done something to make it think you’re trying to steal it, you need to wait something like 20 minutes before trying EKA. I’m fairly sure that doing the EKA procedure correctly will fix your issue.

Presumably you followed the instructions for entering the EKA to a tee. Yes 1515 is the EKA for most NAS P38’s. Sometimes you need to wait 20 minutes or so before entering the code.

Also, it is possible that the EKA has been disabled with a Nanocom or Testbook. Some people think they are doing themselves a favour by disabling it. It means that you can’t use it to re-enable your car. Do you have access to a Nanocom?
|
There’s a used Nanocom for sale in the Marketplace section, but it’s licensed only for a D2. You would need to buy the Unlock for a P38 and the Green Cable for the P38, so it might not be worth getting the used unit.
