I made a questionable decision 😂
 

So I bought a 1997 P38 Range Rover, maybe not the brightest choice I have ever made as I have plenty of junk to work on. With the 110, L322, D1 and now a P38. I have a really big adventure that will take me about 5000 miles in a little over a week. So I of course found the cheapest P38 I could and went on a road trip to get it…

I mean this 100% screams massive road trip in a couple months with my Daughter 😂

So I hooked up the trailer to the Diesel and got moving so I could snag the truck as it was a great price and my gut told me it was a good base to start from. Had to grab a few things and my co driver

And loaded up my best bud for the 8 hour round trip




So we arrived I looked around it hooked the jump pack up, had him start it so I could listen to the motor on cold start, had him pop in drive and reverse. Made the deal for $450 He asked if I needed a hand loading it on the trailer so he drove it up while I guided him. I hooked up got on the road without having driven my new to me P38🤣. The only way to buy a used Land Rover if you ask me 🤣

Got it back to the shop and off loaded. Did a quick walk around of the truck to formulate a plan of attack

lol no worries or hurries there is going to be a bunch of them as I try to get it right and ready for the big trip in June, I’m hoping it survives basically what is turning into one lap of america

We shall see lol, big things on the list that I need to sort are the AC and Radio

There are threads on AC/HVAC issues (I know you’re a Mod here) on rangerovers.pub and rangerovers.net. The radio is getting harder to sort out (no one seems to be supporting them anymore). If it’s just the code you need rapidradiocodes.co.uk will get it for £5. (I haven’t used them myself).
Like the D2, most of the P38 problems are well known with known fixes.

The radio powers on and the cd changer comes to life and the display lights up but nothing is displayed. No noise in the speakers and no response as far as I can tell to the controls

As for RR.net I search and have been a member for years but rarely post as one of the mods is a bigger jerk than I am 😂
