Immobilised Engine Help!
Hi everyone!
We inherited a Range Rover Vogue 2001 model at the beginning of this year and, unfortunately, we have run into quite a problem. We were told that we should NEVER lock the car and, of course, the car was locked (as accidents happen). The car was locked using the key in the door. After that, we got a message that the engine was disabled. Now, no matter what we have tried, we cannot disable the engine and the car is sitting like a giant brick on the side of the road. We were told by a mechanic that we all we can do is to try fix it ourselves, so here I am as a damsel in distress. So far, we have tried the following:

My 97 did that and it was as straight forward as putting the key in the door locking and unlocking it three times. Then within 30 seconds start it up.

Hi there! Thank you for the response and suggestion. We will try this again tonight and report back.... We are so confused on what to do from here on out. We have been told that we should just sell the car for parts...

Do you have a working Fob? You’ve probably tried unlocking it with the fob?
Ive had similar issues several times. I’ve had success with EKA. It seems that you’re sure that the car has accepted the EKA. I know in some cases you need to let the car sit for 20 minutes or so and try the EKA again. You also hope that someone hasn’t turned off the EKA with a Nanocom or something, you can re enable it but you need a Nanocom or equivalent. I always lock mine. I very much doubt that you need to send your electronics out. |
