Electric LR Vs. Gas LR

Cool 4 part series comparing a modified electric 1971 Land Rover vs. a 1989 Range Rover. I dont know the point of going fast off road, but its still a cool little test. I also dont get why articulation matters in an engine test, but again, its cool to watch anyways!

Part 4 is my favorite, its pretty impressive what both vehicles can do.

Fun little video! You gotta love that old series going for it. Not really a head to head comparison. The torque on the electric was pretty sweet to see in action.

I didn't really see the point in comparing two different vehicles, but like you said, seeing that electric series in action was pretty cool.

soon all mechanics will need to be electricians... once battery technology can catch up. it would be awesome to have an all electric defender with solar panels to help with mid-trip recharging and brakes that retaing the energy like in the prius. i also like the compressed air technology they are developing. nothing like making a car run on air.

If they can make a legit battery powered off roader, i'd buy one!
But like you said, battery technology has a long way to go before than than really do anything serious. Now air... that would be cool! We'd never have a shortage thats for sure!

You will need to make sure that you bring your gas powered Honda generator to charge you batteries when you are on a overland expedition.

Company that made 1971 Land Rover series IIa 88 electric. They test it against a 1969 petrol Land Rover at Moab, Utah, Apparently there is a write up about it in an old copy of Land Rover Magazine.
