Who watches Top Gear?

Tonight I saw one episode that made me absoluytely sick. The race car driver was in a military tank, learning to drive it.

They had a beautiful 1979 Guards Red Porsche 928 parked broadside. He totally crushed it with the tank.

I used to have a Black 1986.5 928. I was horrified the way they destroyed that classic 928.

Also saw them run a brand new Porsche Carrea GT against the newest AMG Gull Wing.

i dont watch the US version on the UK version.

XCELLER8 04-10-2012 09:24 AM

I watch the UK version quite a bit. Oh to have the fun budget those guys have to work with !

Yes, they seem to have an unlimited supply of money and exotic cars.

US version....blah...

The original UK version is the only one I watch. Before the show, I was all into the magazine.

I get a British Channel on our Comcast cable channels. Last night they had a Mini, a v12 Jag XJS and a older Rolls Royce in one of their segments going to the richest section of India to have a TATA party to celebrate Tata Motors/Land Rover takeover.

Also raced some them across the open desert to avoid officials in different countires.

Those dudes are whack.

I don't watch the US version. But I do watch the UK version. Unfortunately I have to look it up on the web because no provider in my area has access to BBC UK.

My favourite episodes are the ones with challenges lasting the whole show, like the bolivian special.

Vietnam special was by far the best!

I love the UK version... the us version is so-so. You can net-flix the UK series starting with 2004 season up to 2011 season.

"those dudes are whack"

priceless from you Danny.

whack is bad right?

saw fast and loud last night for the first time. i liked it.

I love TGUK! The shorter British television season means more money is allocated per episode resulting in better quality programming. I like the Bolivia episode the best with the Batswana ep. close behind.

Top Gear is pretty much the best show ever. But I still can`t understand why they tried to copy it in the US. A lot of what makes Top Gear so great is the dynamic between Clarkson, May and Hammond. It`s not forced or faked and took a decade to get to where it is now. And the cinematography is stunning... poetic art in motion.

Besides... who doesn`t like seeing a man in his 50`s stylishly flogging the crap out of cars worth more than your house on a deserted runway!

I guess I fall in line with most others in my opinion. I can watch the UK version multiple times and find it interesting, I've tried watching the US knockoff and I can't get through one episode, I think it's terrible. I've tried a few times going back and giving it another chance, still doesn't do it for me so now I don't bother anymore.

My favourite scene was the winter Olympics episode where they fired a solid fuel rocked powered Morris Mini off a ski ramp and Hammond said "Here at Top Gear, we are at the cutting edge of cocking about." That and the time they set that caravan on fire.

i second on the UK version being the best. the us version is just horrible. they are not original nor even try to be. they just copy everything the uk version does. i hope they shut down the us version soon. it just takes up time on my history channel.

Camdisco24 07-15-2012 04:55 PM

They really ought to contract the UK version out to a US channel other than BBCA (which many don't have the pleasure of having in their home). TGUK would be huge in the US, but I know BBC is stingy with who can show their stuff.

Doesn't BBC and Fox have some sort of connection?

928s

I just saw a beautiful 928s the other day, brought back memories! Yea, too bad they did that to such a unique car.

Top Gear is a stupid show, I prefer to watch a show with substance and entertainment like the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
