They aren’t unreliable, if they were I certainly wouldn’t have my wife driving one as a D/D and hauling the kids around (she drives an LR3, but it’s got a lot more electrical things to go bananas!)....

My 02 has 237k and climbing all on the original drivetrain. Zero issues & it runs better IMHO than most D2’s with less than 100k.

Up in Canada I’d just stick with 75/90w or 80/90w.

Connectors at ECM may need a rest or cleaning too. No chafing may rule out shorts but not intermittent or hard opens. If the new ECT sensor isn't a fix your wiring should be carefully checked to ECM....

In the morning before you start it, open the bleed screw and top it off with coolant. That will remove any trapped air at that high point. Parking nose up helps when opening the bleed screw.
