may not be the sensor itself ....but maybe the wiring harness to it.....they get hot / old/ and brittle....sometimes the the insulation on the wires just bakes and falls off.....could cause a short...

turning on the a/c will send signal to the IACV to increase the idle speed to compensate for the extra load on the engine

well, I just looked through the factory service manual and it doesnt say......go figure, .....but I do remember reading somewhere that the manufacturer doesnt reccommend resurfacing them ..only...
