Hope for Repair Window Separated from Base?
Just successfully replaced driver side regulator and window was working great until today when it stopped rolling all the way down. (Had a bit of an adventure while driving in this condition – see below.) Opened her back up and found the glass has separated from the metal base that attaches to the regulator with 2 screws. Any hope of reattaching somehow or is there new driver side window glass in my future?

By the way, while driving today at 35mph, I tried the window and next thing I know the drivers side door pops open (and swings out about a foot) and would not catch until I adjusted the window down a bit. Who knew a broken window could open your door?

First that thing is rusted bad. I'd take it off, clean it up and put some rustoleum on it. As for fixing the window, get some window adhesive from an auto parts store and place some in the channel when the base of the window sits then put the window back in it and roll it up and let it cure. That should rectify your situation

Thanks Lucky. One more question – should I put the adhesive in the channel both under and on top of the rubber seal? I don't have the window in front of me to look at right now, but I'm not seeing how the glass would stay in if adhesive was just between the channel and seal (unless the channel somehow grips the window glass?). Seems like the glass would just slide out.

Your cheapest way to fix the problem is to remove the rubber seal from the channel. Get some good epoxy that will work on glass. Clean up the channel and put the epoxy on into the channel. Have someone hold the glass up so you can put the channel on the glass. Allow ample time for the glass to seal with the channel the reinstall the channel with the regulator.
Doing it this way enables you to avoid having to remove the window frame. It also removes the risk that you break the glass when trying to push it back into the channel with the rubber seal in place.
