Off Road set of tires
I would like to buy a set of REAL off-road tires for my '03 Disco HSE. It's my daily driver so I keep a set of Toyo Proxie's on there. Helps with the milage, noise etc... However, they suck off-road. So I'd like to get a full set of wheels and tires that I can swap out when I go off-road. How big can I go without rubbing the fenders? Any brands, I found some General Tire Grabber AT2's that looked pretty good, but I'm just not sure about the size.
Thanks, Brian |
RE: Off Road set of tires
I have a 2002 Disco II and have been searching for OFF ROAD tires for two weeks so far and can't find crap. Ticks me off that you can't find any off road tires for a supposedly OFF ROAD vehicle! Even Land Rover North America had a stupid reply to an email I sent about it.
They sent out my Disco II with 18" wheels, and nobody makes OR tires for em! [:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@] |

Thanks, Brian You might consider buying a used set of factory 16" alloys off of one of the Rover forum classified sections, there are a lot of them for sale. As for size, go to a 245/75/16 tires and I would suggest a BFG MT with teir 3 ply side walls, very strong and tons of traction. Where do you live and what sort of wheeling do you plan on doing, what kind of ground or soil, maybe lots of mud???? Mike |

General Grabber AT2 comes in a 18" to fit the Disco II.

RE: Off Road set of tires
I had thought about putting just regular tires on the 18" wheels again, and buying a set of steel 16" wheels with some BFG's on em to switch out. We wheel the Rover only a couple of times a year, mostly in deep sand. However I am prone to quick and nasty sessions of deep mud running if I see some somewhere...... hehe..

They also have customer reviews of the tires. |

RE: Off Road set of tires
There are a couple of choices for 18 inch off road tires in 285/65 R18 size. one is Nitto Tires and the other is BFG
I think you'll have to do a lift to get them to fit though. |
