Default ARRGGGG or why you should use anti-seize!

I have no idea if this is the original T-stat but besides no anti-seize on the threads the installer didn't read the part that says "top". Wondering if this is why it runs at 215-220 in these 100 degree temps we're having. Now to figure out how to remove that damn thing.

I have a Irwin bolt extractor set which is usually excellent for situations like this. Looks like you got lucky there is a good amount of bolt showing there.

Unfortunately the extractor socket just shredded what was left of the bolt. I'm going to try drilling it then weld a washer & nut on whats left and see if the internet claims I've seen are true.
I've replaced the fan clutch but after seeing this stat and other things I'm pretty sure that the previous owners mechanic was giving him a royal screwing. I think a lot of things he had paid for were either never done or done poorly like the stat installation.

Yea those extractors require quite a bit of pressure sometimes. If you have a spare socket thats the same size you can bang it on there too I have gotten some off in the past that way.
Anyways, good luck to you hopefully this "mechanic" didn't do very much work for the PO. Always a pain getting a truck that had everything done half-***

Interesting how the part on the t-stat that says "TOP" is at the 3-oclock position! Previous mechanic, based on the t-stat installation and gorilla-torqueing of the bolts, is an utter moron, and probably an ASE drop-out, or graduated at the bottom of his class.
