Figure about $7-11,000 for a good shop to do it. That's what we've been hearing from the shops that we've sold the chassis to.

There consistences was even galvanized the two half welded down the middle was still going to be a problem.
I'd love to read that article, link?

Anyone tried the Rear 1/4 Chassis Repair piece - saw it on devon4x4.com. This would definitely be a lot cheaper/faster if it's just the rear that's rusted out. Remove the gas tank and a few other things, cut out the old piece and weld in the new (by a certified welder as this is structural).

dustylbottoms,

I dont know if i can find a link, but maybe i can probably photocopy it and post it.
I still believe in paper and ink, especially were i do most of my heavy reading.

the other thing i notice strange was they let them use copper for brakelines on these frames in the UK,
so they would also have to be changed to steel or stainless

Probably copper/nickel which is fine. A lot of people, I've noticed, just say copper.
Plain copper is a major no-no and I'd be extremely surprised if they allowed it in the UK.

We're going to start selling full rear quarter chassis pretty soon, around $550 or so through me. Might be a nice option for those who are losing the rear legs.

Far North Rovers of Anchorage Alaska said this: "The labor guide shows 27 hours. 27 hours= $3375.00. In actuality, it could take a week. Never know about broken bolts and such. I have probably 4 DII frames, they are all 99-2001's. I don't know what difference there is in the 03-04 frame. it does have a different part number though. $1000.00 sounds fair for the frame".

If I can get a reasonable price on galvanizing the donor frame before the swap then i will do that, but if its to much then I will just clean up the frame completely, sand it down and add new rust resistant paint and finally waxoyl then plan on waxing the frame once per year thereafter.
