You guys (and gals) have too much time on your hands. And, you've fallen into the trap of placing too much credence into the oil company's marketing. Oil is pretty much oil. It's not gonna make or break your engine's performance. Pick one, keep the level between the high and low level marks, and get a life!

I am familiar with the oil testing procedures... I used to be mechanic on M1A1 back when I was in the Marines... It was a PITA, but a lot quicker & easier than changing the oil & filters

There is no Rotella 15W-40 in synthetic. This conventional oil is just as good as sythnetic. This type of oil has better additives because it's rated for diesel engines. Just change it on time.

discovery_Scott,
Check Wal-mart 15w-40 Shell Rotella in 5 Gallon container quantity.
Also Shell Rotella T6 is synthetic. I have not found the that in the 5 Gallon quantity only 1 gal.

I agree, the conventional Rotella is just as good as most of the synthetic oils available.

Okay, so going to rotella, from a synthetic, is there any special procedures to follow, like flushing the engine or anything or just drain synthetic, change filter, and add conventional oil.

Nope.
Just drain, change the filter, and refill and go.

What he said.

Mobil 1 is a standard dino base stock with syn additives and friction modifiers.
Rotella is a heavy duty base stock with heavy duty additives and friction modifiers.
If you want a true full syn motor oil you need to use Royal Purple, Amsoil or Redline.
Those are true full syn and can go 20,000 miles between oil changes if you use the right oil filter.

The same thing could be said about driveshafts and brake lines.

Wow dudes 5000 miles? I go 3000 miles or 3 months, and I usually don't get 2000 miles on mine. I either use Rotella 15w40 or Mobil Delvac 15w40 whichever is on sale, and I use O'reilly's oil filter for the M1-301. I can usually do an oil change for $24 as when either one or the other oil is on sale I buy all I can. Once a year I throw in a bottle of Rislone. Rislone is currently on sale at Advance btw.
