What tires to put on

What tires to put on
I recently got two sets of rims (16" and 19") for my 2003 S7, but need to figure out what tires to put on them. Basically, I need to dosome fair distance driving (50 miles one way)between my place to work during workdays and some offroad activities on my farm over the weekend. I am living in a northern rural area where a lengthy winter time (with big icy snows) will be observed. Any suggestions on what kind of tire(s) I need to consider to put on? Thanks

RE: What tires to put on
Dump the 18" rims, I recommend the Copper Discoverer S/T, it is a really good all terrain tire, it is good in the snow and dirt. I had them on my FedEx van and they were by far the better tire I had had. I had used the Cooper Discoverer ATR which wore out in underthree months, used the BFG AllTerrain and got stuck more than ever and wore out in less than 6 months, used the S/T and got stuck less and lasted longer than any other tire I used, almost a year.
Others on here are recommending the General AT2, I have no experience with them but they look like a good tire.
If you can find them, the Goodyear Workhorse are a great tire, they last forever and are prefered by farmers.

RE: What tires to put on
I run General grabber AT2's and so far have been very happy. The ride is quiet on the hwy and they really good off road. They also come with a 60,000 mile warranty. On 16" wheels you will loose a little MPG (maybe 1 at the very most) but they are net as bad as some other A/t tires. They are also a great price for the tire you get, not to mention, they look great too. Any other questions about GG A/t2's let me know.

RE: What tires to put on
I recently put the AT2s on and have been very pleased. Different feeling from the road tires, but I acclimated quickly. My mileage has actually improved since installing the tires--but I had so much other work done at the same time I don't know how to explain that. I just took the Disco on camping trip, loaded down with 2 adults, 3 kids, and LOTS of gear, and averaged 13.8 mpg driving steep, winding mountain roads--which was a pleasant surprise!
Love the way they look. Here are some shots of mine:

I too can vouch for the General Grabbers At2. Been through a very bad Canadian winter this year, and passed with flying colors on ice and deep snow.
