Angry sagging window

The other day I rolled all the windows down and the driver's rear didn't want to come back up and there was a funny sound like "crackling". I manged to pull up the window with my hands, it eventually sags back down a little after driving. Is this common and is there a simple fix for it?

Thumbs up re sagging window

hi,you dont say whether your windows are manual or electric, but it sounds from your desc like the cable has come off the regulator, you wont be able to tell until you take the door trim and card off to have a look,if its just come off,pop it back on,if cables broke you'll need a new onesorry but i have no idea of the price or a part number.hope this helps.

If it's making a crackling sound the cable is likely broken. From the dealer, a new regulator assembly is pricey. Luckily as it's a rear window the regulator should be easy to find on e-bay, expect to pay about $125. Same thing happened to my drivers door window and as this is the most commonly used window and thus most likely to break the regulator is hard to come by. Had to pick mine up from the dealer, cost just shy of $300 if I recall.

i had a similar issue with my rear-right window. i thought the cable was broken too. when i took apart the door cover and inspected the assembly, it turned out that a small plastic piece that guides the cable through the assembly had a broken notch and was no longer staying put at the end of the metal rod.

i used a 50 cent fix and zap strapped the plastic piece back in place on the metal rod. its been working just fine for about a year.

so i'd advise taking the door apart to see what is broken...
