Default IT_Rover's continuous thread of '85 RRC fun

Here I will be posting pics of things that I have done to my '85 RRC. Please feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to help you out with providing links and resources.

So here it is. 1985 RRC 3.5L carb Buick V8. It has a 4 barrel Holley 390 carb with an Edelbrock intake manifold. I have Hedman 4-1 long tube headers from summitracing.com I think I paid $160 for the set. The rest of the exhaust is all custom. I have a 42" cherry bomb muffler that has been burned out with gasoline and a side exit behind the left rear wheel. Most of the pipe for this came from my F-150's old exhaust. It even has a chrome tip! haha When the engine was rebuilt, a custom Isky cam was ground and put in. It's rolls on Insa Turbo Dakar 265/75 R16 tires.

The snorkel is a custom made setup. I got the carb bonnet from ebay, used as a cap for supercharged applications. The filter box came off an old Fiat Fiorino with all the tubing. I did have to modify the intake of the box to a larger diameter silicone tube because the old one was restrictive. the rest of the pipe for the snorkel is just pieces left over from and old cold air intake and turbo setup I did in the states. Silicone elbows and some plastic and aluminum tube. The main snorkel body is 3" exhaust pipe, cut and welded at the top for a pre-filter. The exhaust pipe was purchased locally as well as the pre-filter. The pre-filters are used on farm tractors to spin dust and larger items out of the air so they don't clog the main filter. Plus it's harder for the water to get in.

My winch bumper I ordered off of ebay and had it shipped to the house for some 200 GB pounds. really heavy duty and nicely designed. The winch I have on it is a 12,000lb that I got for $300 here locally. I have an Allbright knockoff HD solenoid for my winch. Available here http://cgi.ebay.com/HEAVY-DUTY-WINCH...item3a593bd929
The rear bumper got ripped off one day so I made a new one. nothing special just a rectangular tube that goes the width. Sits flush with the rear of the truck.

The suspension lift was done before I got the truck. It has HD springs and 2" lift blocks on the front and rear and 2” lowered HD galvanized shock turrets. I put cranked trailing arms already on the rear and plan on installing the radius arms in the future. I got the cranked trailing arms on ebay from this guy http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CRANKED-TRAILI...item3cab626d9f
And the radius arms came from www.paddockspares.com.

Nothing special inside the truck. I took out all the carpet, floor mats and rear seats. It's just asking for mold since I can't seem to keep my truck out of the water. I also have the steering wheel from a Renault that I found at the junk yard. The shifter has a 5 ball on it.

On the outside for other mods are just simple basic stuff. I cut some diamond plate to replace the passenger side mirror that I broke off. I have a 3' whip antenna that I got from ebay from this guy http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JEEP-...ssoriesQ5fGear
In the very near future I will be removing all 4 plastic light covers on each corner, placing diamond plate over the space and making flush mount lights using amber LED's for turn signals, white LED's for reverse and tail lights from a 90's Jeep Wrangler. Everything will be flush so nothing can crack. I took out that plastic junk on the middle of the hood area and placed 4 fog lights from harborfreight.com in there and covered the middle space with more diamond plate.

Enough talking. Here are some pics that I have. If you have any questions just ask me.

Yesterday I removed the plastic lights on the corners and replaced it with diamond plate and new LED lights will be mounted. No more buying lenses and replacing ****ty incandescent light bulbs! Should I paint the diamond plate black or leave it bling? If painted, glossy or flat?
