I just bought a 2006 LR3 HSE. The original Good Year tires are worn out at 24,000 mi. and wanted a tire that was good in snow and ice and was not terrable on dry pavement. Has any one had much experience with the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snows? They raided very well and the customer reviews were good as well. I picked up a set at the Tire Rack for 192ea.
Sorta late asking for opinions after you've already bought them.
Next go round look at Nokians. They've been long known for making excellent winter tires. I got a set of their best winter tires for $112 each from a (semi-)local farmers co-op. Though mine are 16" and I know 18" tires cost a heck of a lot more for the same thing. At least the ones I've priced (out of curiosity) do.

I live in Massachusetts. I do a lot of snowmobiling in Maine and New Hampshire and pull a two place trailer. My LR does not have the HD package and was looking for a good M/S tire but the choices were limited with 19in wheels. I have been averaging about 40K on my vehicles a year and will probably need a set of tires every year.
