Description:

I've got a 2002 Disco 2 that runs great. However, there is big caveat: The O2 monitors won't set. I've put about 1200 miles on to get them to do so.

You can read about the issue in this post:
https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...ry-air-124849/

If you're still reading, here's my sales spiel:

# Overview:
This well-maintained Disco has been my daily driver around the Central Coast for the past couple years -- although I don't drive all that much. It's been 20 years California-owned and operated. It looks great underneath with no signs of rust. Carfax history indicates regular servicing throughout its life, and it's accident-free.

# Services:
**Ongoing improvements:**
- Installed AB braided steel brake lines allowing for 2" lift - The truck is NOT currently lifted, it's just about a half an inch taller with its 255/70/16 tires instead of the stock 65s
- Added New lug nuts from LA wheels - solid steel, eliminating the caps that tend to deform
- Replaced both front and rear wiper fluid pumps
- Added Disco 1 windshield washer arms (to accommodate normal, off the shelf wiper blades)
- Installed an inline 180 degree thermostat (that thing is amazing, usually runs about 185ish)
- New Odyssey AGM battery
**At 105,934:** My Disco did the most cliche thing possible: The CPS failed while I was at a traffic light. I had a shop do the work because it's nearly impossible to reach the wiring connector without quintuple jointed, skinny, 7 ft long arms -- they charged accordingly. After that happened, I decided to go on a tear with maintenance and did all the following:
Services:
- Coolant flush - Zerex G40 Si-HOAT at 50/50
- Differential oil change, replaced plastic plugs with brass fittings - Valvoline synthetic 75W140
- Transfer case oil change - Valvoline synthetic 75W140
- Brake fluid flush - Pentosin super DOT 4
- Oil and filter change - Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 15W-40 Diesel Engine Oil
- Power steering fluid flush - First with Autozone shop brand plus Trans Tune, then a final flush and fill with Pentosin CHF 11S
Parts:
- Replaced valve cover gaskets - AB replacement kit
- Replaced upper intake manifold gasket (ERR6621)
- Replaced spark plugs - NGK Iridium IX
- Replaced wires - Karlyn STI 8mm
- Replaced the throttle body - I thought it might have been related to my drive cycle issue noted below, but it wasn't, I'm including the original throttle body which is in great condition.
Modifications:
- Option B fix to the ABS to eliminate the three amigos -- butt connectors, shrink tubing, and wire looms so it looks nice.
# What it includes:
Accessories:
- The legendary Nanocom Evolution (Rover specific diagnostic tool: https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com) with unlock code for the Disco V8 Bosch engine
Additional parts:
- Various o-rings, bolts, things I thought I might need, etc...
- Mahle oil filter and drain plug
- A nice looking throttle body as noted above
Keys:
- 2 fobs with key/clicker
- 1 valet key
Owner's manual
# Caveats:
1. The big one: The aforementioned O2 monitors
2. Regarding the head gasket:
It seems fine. The engine is running a really nice, stable temperature (The inline thermostat has performed flawlessly). I'd considered preemptively replacing them when I had the engine apart to do the valve covers. However, there is no evidence of head gasket failure. I did a combustion leak test that came back negative, and when changing the valve covers there was no indication of any coolant, just oil. It was a judgment call and I felt like unnecessarily replacing the head gaskets without evidence wasn't worth doing -- and frankly, I didn't find the valve cover gasket job to be all that difficult, it's probably half the work you need to do for the head gaskets. I felt confident that I could do it in the future and was also impatient and didn't want to wait for the gasket kit and bolts to ship.
3. Regarding transmission fluid and filter:
You may have noticed that I left those off my list. It was something of a live and let live decision, in that the transmission seems to be working fine, and I don't want to burn myself crawling under the truck while it's running to do the flush properly.

Default Message me if it’s still available

I know this is a new account, I’ve been looking for a disco or RR from this era for a very long time.

Blue over tan happens to be my favorite, so I had to join and send you a message when I saw it. (Recently got outbid on BAT on a rover I really liked and I’m a lil sad and need a pick me up)
