2003 Discovery II HSE, New Head Gaskets! Strong Runner! bad frame
For Sale2003 Land Rover Discovery
Description:
I have owned this Disco for more than 15 years. It has done everything I expected of it and more, but I have too many vehicles and the next round of repairs is not something I am interested in doing.
First, the good:
This 2003 had the bad oil/block VIN range, so it received a new short block from the dealership at about 70,000 miles.
Recent maintenance within the last 1,000 miles
• a full head gasket job, along with other essentials - valley pan, all belts, upper and lower radiator hoses.
• New power steering pump.
• New Battery
Also has
Oversized Bosch alternator that tests 14+ volts.
Magnecor plug wires
Greaseable u-joint drive-shaft
Air suspension replaced with coil springs
The bad:
Frame is badly rusted. suggest replacement or welding.
Battery has a slow drain, so an auto disconnect switch has been installed. You press a button to activate the battery. This works great great and it can sit for months and start up.
Oil pan leaking
sunroof not working
sunroof water leak
Loose headliner
front and rear bumper damage
headlight water leak
needs exhaust - rusted out.
The exhaust was kind of the last straw after just dumping a huge amount of engine work into it. I've spent more than a decade wrenching on this car. Hopefully someone can use it for parts or an off road build. That said, I would start it up and drive across the country tomorrow. It runs strong and pulls hard. I have been daily driving until yesterday.
