For sale is my beloved 2004 Land Rover Discovery 2 SE7 with clean title, registration, and smog. This was the only year that had the Center Locking Differential for true 4WD off-road capability!

I test drove and inspected 11 different Discos before purchasing this one because it has been clearly better maintained than all the rest. It taught me that maintenance is more important than mileage!

Until a year ago, the car ran great. It was not throwing any engine codes or any amigos. Sometimes some codes would come and go, but the drivetrain has been reliable on this one.

Alas, the catalytic converters were stolen by some thieves, which led to me not driving the car for a year, which led to it being in a sadder condition now than it was. The engine still fires right up, but the car roars incredibly loudly. We can turn the engine on and drive it on the street, but out of respect for the neighbors and liability, I don’t expect to do full test drives.

In the past, I would have happily just fixed this. But my personal life has evolved (city, job, marriage) and I can no longer prioritize working on my car the way I always used to.

So, it’s time to sell the rover. I believe that with replacement cats it’ll be driveable (though perhaps with some codes given that it’s been sitting a while). Alternatively, it could be a great parts car.

I’m pretty invested in it going to someone who will love it like I did or take these parts and put them into another rover they love. Let me know what you intend to do with it, and I’ll adjust sale price accordingly!

Condition:

 - No significant structural chassis rust - has lived in SoCal most all its life (nowhere with salt/snow)

 - Interior leather+trim are in overall great condition aside from a few specific wear points. Looks and feels like a luxury car when its clean.

 - Exterior has clear coat scratches from off-road usage, but no deep scratches or gouges or dents. Hood clear coat is peeling more significantly.

 - Before the cats were stolen, the car was functionally great with no trouble codes or amigos. Some persistent leaks (to be expected for a Rover!), but easy enough to keep things topped off.

 - Engine has never been overheated. Head gaskets were preemptively replaced by previous owner.

- Various parts have rust and sun damage after the car has been sitting

- I haven’t done a thorough inspection since the cats were stolen to determine whether the thieves might have caused other damage, but the car does start right up and does still have a clean smog.
