Description:

Hi All,

For sale is my 2005 Range Rover HSE with 142,705 miles. Clean NV title in hand. Car was smogged and registered in NV June 2024. Clean CarFax can be provided upon request.

I am asking $7,500. I am open to counter offers and negotiation. The truck is located in Henderson, NV (a suburb of Las Vegas).

I have purchased several pre-owned, vintage cars directly from owners so have striven to make this listing as detailed and as transparent as possible.

I am in the midst of selling two of my "fun" vehicles as some priorities have shifted (the other is an XJ8) and am not in a rush but am willing to part with the truck assuming we can come to an agreement on price.

Fine Detail
After a few months' search and several PPIs I purchased this Rover from a dealer in Portland last June. Apparently, the truck was traded in at Land Rover Portland by the original owners for a new Disco. The CarFax is clean though not overly detailed as apparently Land Rover Portland does not report to CarFax. I have service records from May 2019-November 2023 and then again from since I've owned it. I purchased the truck with 138, 834 miles and have put close to 4,000 miles on it. In that time it has required minimal maintenance (see more below).

The vehicle comes with the following:

  • 2 Keys
  • Owner's manuals
  • OEM Range Rover Rubber mats front, rear, and boot.
  • OEM Range Rover Dog Guard
  • OEM Range Rover boot cover
  • OEM Range Rover Soft Coated Bull Bar
Work Done by Previous Owners May 2019-October 2021
I can provide copies of this for anyone interested, as they have been redacted.
  • May 2019-Alternator Replaced
  • August 2019-120,000 mile service; front air struts replaced, air compressor replaced, air suspension external exhaust valve replaced
  • June 2021-Alternator and Alternator Drive Belt Replaced
  • October 2021-Front brake pads and rotors replaced; coolant expansion tank replaced
  • November 2023-Rear brake pads and rotors replaced

Work Done by Me (June 2024-Present)
All work done by my local Rover indy
  • Regular oil/oil filter changes
  • November 2024: New battery installed; passenger side rear window regulator replaced
Suspected Mechanical Issues
  • Center Locking: When unlocking the truck for the first time you will hear a clicking sound for a few seconds. My shop said it is likely one of the locking mechanisms going bad but other than the sound which lasts for a few seconds, there is no issue. Truck locks/unlocks fine.
  • Oil Leaks: During the PPI I had done, the Portland local shop noted a small oil leak which was not a surprise to me given the truck's age and reputation for leaks. At an oil change I had done by my usual shop last Fall, they noted a rear main seal leak and valve cover leak. I don't see any oil on the ground so decided to keep an eye on this. I was planning to do the rear main seal and timing chain service (below) this year but now that I am selling am not going to do it of course.
  • Suspected Vanos Rattle: When starting cold, first thing in the morning you do hear what I suspect is the Vanos rattle documented on this forum. This has been present since I purchased it. When warm and or coming off a fresh oil change I cannot detect a start up rattle. My local shop said it could also be timing chains of course. I was planning to do the timing chain job this year but now that I am selling am not going to do it of course.
  • Suspected Alternator Drive Belt: When starting cold, first thing in the morning you will hear a belt whine for a few seconds that then goes away. I haven't had this diagnosed but given all the work done around the alternator by the previous owner suspect it could be the drive belt.
Known Cosmetic Issues:
  • I've taken pictures of all the cosmetic issues inside/out. There are scratches/scuffs there and some degraded plastic bits but for a 2005 I would say it is in really good shape.

Price update: $7500. I've reduced the price after a few folks pointed out my pricing was a bit high. Note: I continue to drive this a few times a week so can confirm most up to date mileage for anyone interested.
