I felt lucky to get $500 off when I took delivery of my Defender back in January 2021. I paid cash, and it seems that these days there are almost no incentives for cash buyers.

Yeah they don't want cash buyers, they make less.

It is only for repeat buyers. They offer 1.5% lower financing/leasing rates to repeat buyers in Canada.

Yup. I had planned to use my bank’s financing, but was told (10 months after placing my order and paying my deposit) that I had to finance through the dealer. I said “Nope. Your rates are higher than my bank’s.” When they dug in their heels, I said “Then I’ll pay cash.”

I had to escalate to the dealership manager (above the sales manager) to get them to honor a cash deal they made with me months earlier that said nothing about financing.

Left a bad taste in my mouth and made me unlikely to buy from that dealer ever again.

This incentive is to get the leftover 2024's off the lot. I just ordered a 2025 and will have to pay sticker.

Not JLR, but I've had dealers be very upfront and show what they get in commissions etc if you finance, so if you do that rather than pay in full we'll split that with you and discount the already agreed deal provided you commit to not paying off the finance within a specific (but not long) period.
