I have a LR fitted detachable tow bar (UK) and all the trailer lighting has stopped working. It has a European 13-pin electric socket and I have been successfully using a 13-7pin adaptor on 3 different small trailers for a year and now none of the trailer lights work and the trailer symbol does not appear on the dash or the show towing as an option in cameras. I can measure 12v+ voltage on the permanent live pin and its earth but no voltage to be found on any other pins. I have checked and tested the only fuse related to the Towbar and I can’t see a way of fault finding an rectifying the issue. I have successfully tested all the trailers.

Today I hooked up a brand-new caravan with 13-pin electrics, the caravan's powered stabilizer activated - but no brake/turn/other lights work.

Any help or advice gratefully received.

 

Sounds like an unfortunate trip to the Dealer. If you can't see it on PiviPro, that's a root problem. Having the power to it shows that the fuse isn't the issue. I'm thinking some controller is having a bad day.

Also confirm that your don't have a fault with the caravans themselves or an issue with PIN connections or broken connectors.

 

Hi, thanks, yes that the document I used to check out the wiring. I'll wait to see what the dealer says.

The car's only just come back after 2.5 weeks having the alternator bracket replaced at 10000mi, as its misalignment causes bearing failure along the auxiliary belt line - this after the aux belt tensioner itself was replaced - as it was making bearing failure noises at 7000mi.

 

All fixed by dealer - Apparently the tow module/controller had dropped out of the car’s software/settings and had to be reinstalled. At least it was covered by the warranty but who knows if it will mysteriously disappear again? Fingers crossed.

 

Glad the dealer figured it out.
