Default 2021 Land Rover Defender 90 First Edition D250 MHEV

I thought I would share my New Zealand off-roading experience with a street version of L663. This vehicle has 22" low-profile tires, wheel spacers and a pneumatic lift. I am a member of the local 4 x 4 extreme club with national affiliations. I have been impatiently waiting for the Rhino bull bar front, which is ordered from Australia but made in Argentina with a 12000 lb winch, but decided to go on trial to see if i need to change the wheels. https://fb.watch/oABK_0Iiu1/

The hardened members all frowned when they saw my wheels but soon changed their view once we got into the rocky and muddy regions of one of the country's highest 4 x 4 trails. Here are some pics. The only downside was a few light scratches on the mags but they were purely cosmetic. The tires stood up fine.

Great pictures.

Those street tires and 22” rims would last about 5 mins on the tracks here. Must be pretty well graded roads in NZ. I run 18”s and they are still too big.

One swallow doesn’t make a summer.

I think the difference in potential damage is the makeup of the rocks. You have a lot of sharp granite-type rocks that can cut rubber easily. We don't. Ours had to be softer shist type, which doesn't cut tires. ( well, not yet ) On our system of grading, it was level 2. Level 3 has high-level water crossings. Level 5 is guaranteed structural damage.
