FWIW, I just checked Topix, and there are no open ‘field actions” for my VIN.

Thanks for that, very helpful!

So the recall says "certain Land Rovers with darkened rear lamp assemblies" and the VINs seem to pertain to "X" models. Have S and SE models been reported to have the tail-light issue?

The doc refers to "darkened rear lamp assemblies". I thought all tail lights were the same, but maybe not? My VIN starts with SALEK (it's a base model), so my assumption is I am not affected by this. Did some quick research on the configurator and looks like the only 2021 model with darkened tail lights is the X (which would explain the VIN range fifth character X). Would have thought the difference was purely cosmetic, but seems the electrical component is different too. Seems in this case going the "build a cheap Defender" route had an advantage

Did a quick look at the 2022 model year and same thing. The Darkened Taillights start with the X trim level. I was thinking of ordering them from PowerfulUK. Guess not, now!

BTW for 2022 models besides the X the V8s are the other ones that have the darkened tail lights. Don't think those are being delivered yet, so only X models would be impacted.

I'm more impressed by the fact that there were 2,622 X models purchased in the US since launch.

I bet that number has a lot to do with dealers ordering top end specs for dealer inventory and people buying what’s on the lot.

Was just told by our LR dealer that all Defender (90, 110, etc..) production has stopped indefinitely and nothing is rolling off the assembly line due to the rear brake light issue UNTIL they resolve the issue. Cannot sell them either, even units in transit to dealer and units at dealers. No ETA on when this will be resolved as of this morning.

All Defenders or just the X models with smoked lights? I literally just got a call that my SE (regular lights) will be ready to pick up this week.
