I just installed a software update on my 2021...I didn't catch the software version number. Sadly my start-stop is working with the shut-down and green circled "A" appearing at stop lights. First time it has worked since I drove it home new 14 months ago.

So just like our other vehicles, I now automatically push the start-stop off button right after the start button. It will be a routine sequence going forward to defeat this stupid, useless, annoying feature.

I've had this exact issue happen to me 4 times now on my MY22 110 SE. The dealer couldn't find a fault code so nothing's been resolved. The last time it happened was after a 2-week period of the car sitting. My hunch is that there's something wrong with the mild hybrid battery charging system.

My hunch is similar but even more straightforward. I've had zero issues like this since I started topping up my battery from time to time. I suspect the battery charge is dwindling on cars that aren't driven as much or is simply low on cars which were just delivered. I have the CTEK charger that's basically the same as the one they make for Land Rover, and it was surprising how much charging it took before it moved to the steady state maintenance mode.

My 2022 110 SE turned off at traffic light today. This is the first time it has happened to me in the 2 months that I have owned it. I didn’t know there was a known issue about this. I previously owned a 2016 L405 Supercharged that had the auto start/stop disabled before I bought it. My salesman told me the dealers will not do that any more.

My auto stop/start has worked flawlessly since I started ensuring the battery was topped up from time to time. I have had a few shutdowns in the past, but it has not happened since I’ve made sure the battery is reasonably well charged.

It's due to the most recent software update. Mine just turned off for first time in 14 months, right after the update. Your 2016 had a small separate battery for the start-stop that could be easily unplugged. No such luck with the Defender. Thankfully we still have the start-stop off button. So many other cars don't even have that, including my friend's 2022 X5 and my brother's 2022 Traverse.

My P300 powered 2020 110 S has worked perfectly in this feature area -- through all the updates, from day 1. Maybe there is a difference in P400 vs. P300 performance here, as suggested (similar to the alternator -- which is a Space Shuttle for the P400 version)?

I generally remember to turn it off. But every time I forget, I am reminded when the engine restarts as I lift my foot off the brake -- then I turn it off immediately. Growing up with old-school cars, I always think I am grinding the starter whenever it happens -- sets my teeth on edge.

As for "Toyota persons" who manage to try to escape their excellent transportation pods, kudos for taking the risk..... I sincerely know it is a tough choice.

My Defender 110 X (P400, 2020 model year) did this today for the very first time.

Driving as normal. Stopped at a red light. Start stop active and the engine turned off as normal once I stopped at the light... I think I had my foot on the brake pedal the entire time.... When I went to accelerate forward, it didn't move, I looked down, instrument cluster was off (radio still playing etc) ... and the car was in Park. Sort of like when you get out of the car.

I didn't put it in Park, didn't unbuckle seatbelt, or open drivers door.

People started honking etc. Big problem. Busy intersection.

Push the front passenger seat forward. Lift up the cover to the main battery. Look at the big black negative terminal. There is a small black plastic wire connector. Right at the top of the lead post. Simply un plug it and your done, no dtc’s no engine light. Your truck will. Operate perfectly with no m,ore button pushes. It literally won’t stop start until you plug it back in.
