Anyone Do a Long Distance Road Trip Yet?

I also like the fact that it's a flatter color than the other paint options - all of which appear to be metallic. After trying and failing to touch up chips in the paint on my current vehicle, I'm done with fancy metallics.
I had originally planned on ordering the pangaea green, but after seeing both in the actual metal, I preferred the way that the blue looks and also that its not a metallic finish. I also thought of just going with the plain white, but my partner vetoed that

We've only done some short weekend trips to a neighboring state so far, though it's been comfy/capable in varied weather so far.
We'll do a longer(ish - for us at least) trip in a few weeks down to the beach and back (about 8 hours each way give or take, followed by beach and dunes driving for the week). Probably gonna be a lot more comfy than my beloved wrangler.

My Wrangler isn't going anywhere. I love it for what it is.
The Defender is the wife's, but I drive it when we go places as a family (so a lot on many weekends).
I love the contrast and differences between the two, just like I enjoy the differences in the various motorcycles we own.
I'll admit my biggest challenge is brake modulation. The Defender really requires a soft touch on initial application. But I can hardly complain.
Is your Wrangler a daily driver or weekend toy?!? Either way get ready to be pampered comparatively. I mean I've got a first rate suspension in my JKU but it's still a primitive double live axle suspension so in many ways more reminiscent of the 70's as far as I'm concerned.
I suspect you'll be thrilled.

It's kinda like when I hop off the Harley and jump on the wife's Ducati lol.

That's the color I just ordered - but with the white roof and white steelies.
Back in the day Series Landrovers only came in green and blue, rarely off white/cream. Tasman blue is closest to the "original" blue color I remember. I wish Keswick green or similar was available

The original blue was called "Arles". I almost bought one in '93 that color. I've ordered a 90 in "Tasman" because of the similarity. Awaiting arrival.

I haven’t yet, but I really want to. Sometimes I feel like I need this trip to feel better. I used to travel by train before. It was so easy to buy a ticket on dbfahrplan.com, and I just went as far as I wanted.
But now I want something else. I want to have more freedom in the directions that I can go. A car is a nice thing to explore the destinations you have never been to before. And you can travel any time of year since you are protected from the rain, the sun and the cold. I have a problem with bike or bicycle traveling – the sudden cold weather can spoil the experience really hard.

I've seen a few threads recently about highway driving and even a gentleman that took his defender to Baja, but has anyone else done a long-distance trip?
My wife and I are itching to get out of the house but are still hesitant to fly and are planning a road trip this summer. We're planning to drive from our home in Orlando to the Grand Canyon and back (with a few days in Moab and Denver sprinkled in). Round-trip, it should be about ~5,500 miles accounting for sightseeing and other excursions.
Has anyone done a long trip like this? If so, how did your defender perform and what did you do to prep? Interested in hearing about any experience or advice.

Smooth riding, really good to drive, and comfortable. True, mostly on the highway.
One thing I want to tell you to prep for is road side assistance. Do not rely on JLR. Get AAA (or anyone else)- I think this summer they are running a special. Not selling AAA , but I had a bad experience with JLR Road Side Assistance.
Enjoy the trip !

We've done a few long road trips. I've towed a trailer to New Mexico, and spent time on the Alpine Loop in the San Juan Mountains in Colorado. We've also done several short road trips staying in Texas. The vehicle has been flawless, with the exception of the factory Good Year Wranglers (really weak sidewalls) But once fitted with proper AT tires it's been perfect. We're going back to the San Juan's next month.
