Default Battery failure

Looks like my 2022 P400 needs a new battery - from fully charged it gives the "Low battery - start engine" warning within a day or so. The local dealer did not seem to be very surprised.

Well don't feel bad, had two replaced on my '22 P400. Just had the one in the wife's '23 Range Rover die as well. Apparently there are two suppliers of "official" Land Rover Batteries, one is made from turdarium and the other is an actual battery, at least according to my service rep. So far, the last one has worked for 8 months now.

Right with you, just put a new battery in our 2021 after 3 years and 38K miles.

i’m in a bit of predicament. i got a full aftermarket audio system and i am sure the dealer will deny the battery claim

i am pretty sure it’s not the audio system. there is another defender built by the same shop with basically very similar setup and they are not having any battery issues

did you have LR cover or pay out of your own pocket

Battery is heavily stressed by the start/stop system. I never use start/stop function, the very first thing after ignition is to switch it off.

My issue was that software updates would download fine but not install. I would get an error message that the battery is insufficiently charged to install the software update and I should drive to fully charge it. I tried to install it after many long drives on the highway and got the same failure message.

Dealer tested my battery and it passed some JLR charge level test but the software still failed to install. Since the battery passed the JLR test level, it wasn't covered under warranty. But I paid for a new one anyway and when I got home the software update immediately installed just fine. I pleaded my case that if the battery is weak enough that it won't install the software update during the warranty period, it should be replaced for free. Service advisor agreed but said JLR makes the rules. Total B.S.
