OP, presumably you had a buy/sell contract with the dealer? Or was it more of a handshake with a good faith deposit?

I signed the build order and left deposit, as I have done in past ordering other vehicles (Porsche). But, not the multi-page vehicle purchase contract.

Exactly what I did when I ordered my Defender back in March. Wow, I am really sorry to hear that this dealer did this to you. It's really dirty pool and so short-sighted on their part.

Yes, def do this. I had issues in the past and started to also message the owners of the dealer network and regional GMs on linkedIn which got some attention and helped. Pretty easy to find people connected to the dealer there.

I ended up ordering a MY24 vehicle with almost the identical build. Delivery now slated for Oct 2023

As a counterpoint, I bought a 2021 off the lot from them in Feb 2021. Living in NorCal, they were willing to do a transaction at MSRP at that time, so I took it. I had a very smooth experience. I know times have changed, but I thought I would provide another data point.

stop wasting time communicating with the salesperson. Go straight to the top and file a formal complaint with the GM of the dealership, the chairperson of the franchise and the head of JLR north America along with consumer affairs and trade commission related government agencies.

Some sort of compensation is warranted.

i was wondering the same thing w/ the change of options with the model year change. I'd be looking at the V8 if I was forced into that.

The ship we expected to see both our vehicles on docked in Long Beach this morning. The Graceful Leader; CXVT7

They did give me a discount in addition to covering the slight increase in MSRP / price difference in options. .
