i wouldn't have mind getting a larger screen for CarPlay use, but I'm too cheap to spend money to fix it after the fact, too many other things to buy.

In terms of functionality, running navigation on the big screen is a significantly better experience than running it on the small screen.
Why? Do you have bad eyesight? The nav screen on the standard display isn't in any way lacking, l can't see how it could be considered too small.

I said "significantly better experience", I didn't say "essential or necessary". You don't need to have compromised eyesight in order to enjoy a better visual experience.

I don't think the smaller screen is too small and the navigation application with the smaller screen is not lacking. But the bigger screen provides a better experience.

It's the similar situation with computer display let it be a computer monitor, tablet, phone and/or television. You can do everything on an ipad mini or a smaller phone that you do on a device with a bigger screen. But the display on the bigger screen is simply more enjoyable.

l apologise for my previous comments above.

I have to remember that this is all new to me, l've come from an old Defender where l used my phone as a nav screen and compared to that even the small media screen is a revelation.

Not a problem.

A = Good
B = Better
B is better than A
But A is still good.

It would be interesting for someone to post in this thread a picture of the bigger screen with NAV displayed to see just how much of a difference the bigger screen really is. Side by side photos would be great. I have the smaller screen and with NAV displayed it does not seem that im missing anything the bigger display would offer.

You are not "missing" anything with the small screen.

You won't be missing anything by watching a show on a 32" TV as you will see everything that's being displayed.

But watching that same show on a 54" TV would provide a better experience.

Again, it's not about essentiality as the smaller screen is working as it should. It's about comparative enhancement in the enjoyment of the usage.

Better enjoyment of one does not render the other one defective or deficient.

As per SilverSFR's suggestion, here is what the big screen looks like with NAV as well as 4x4i on . For your viewing pleasure
