Default California Help ( Help Method see if they can make us wheels)

I need one or two people that can go to Temecula, California and let Method Racing Wheels scan your braking system. Ideally with the 18in Caliper conversion installed and one without. I am hoping that they can make us something to fit our Defenders. They are willing to try!!

Contact me and I will put you in direct contact with the engineer that designs the wheels.

Do they compensate for this?

No I do not think so but it will help the whole community. If you need something to make sense of it I am sure we can work something out.

The MRW 706 are the correct bolt pattern and come in 18in... they aren't bead lock but they do have the bead grip

That’s good to know, but to the OP’s point, there are different Defender options that all offer slightly different sizes. With clearances for 18” wheels so very tight, it makes a real difference which “18-inch wheel setup” you have on your Defender. I have the LK8 conversion rear calipers; that is definitely a different tolerance than the factory brakes on Defenders that came with 18s. I know this because I bought OEM 18” steel wheels and they don’t fit the rear of the truck without minor grinding on my part to remove some metal, and still, even with that, my tire shop can’t mount the wheel weights in the traditional position, inside the barrel, as close to the face of the wheel as possible, because they get scraped off by the calipers. We had to either mount them way on the inside of the barrel (towards the center of the car), which makes for a difficult balance job, or use the type weights that crimp on the outside of the rim.

All this to say that this project is a good one if they want to build an 18” wheel that fits factory brakes on the P300 as well as the conversion kit on the P400s.

I’d be happy to go from Atlanta but ya’ll would have to pay my gas there and back.

Yes, I know. I was joking that everybody in the community would have to pitch in and pay the (no doubt enormous) gas bill.

whats funny is most SEMA shops will give the prototype defender the stuff they are prototyping for free. I wouldnt waste my time or money short of that.

Sounds like a cheap shop that isnt contributing to the community.
