Default Consider Selling your New Defender?

Anyone else considering selling their Defender? Don't get my wrong I love my 110 but with these inflated used prices I've started to consider putting it on the market.

Nope. What would you get instead? Can’t get good deals on desirable cars right now… so whatever gain you get from selling will turn into a smaller one when you have to replace it.

I have thought about it, either the Defender or the wife’s D5. As mentioned by @patpatriot6 if you had to replace it right now then don’t think it is worth it. In my case, I don’t need to replace immediately, so would make more sense, BUT, unclear how long this car market conditions will last, so could be a long time until it could be replaced, AND, love both cars so much I know I’d regret quickly selling any of them.

I've consider an EV commuter car to replace the Defender until the market corrects itself. It certainly wouldn't be a direct replacement for the LR. Even if I paid MSRP for an EV I'd still be way ahead as it seems I could get about $20Kish over what I paid for the Defender. Then as the market cools down I could order another Defender. That's the thought anyway.

I hear you. How long is the wait these days for an EV? What I hear is that waits for Teslas might be longer than for LRs.

20K over what you paid? I'm not seeing anything like that.

Considering that our Defenders are used and accumulating miles, I'd think the best we'd see is what we paid plus maybe a few $K for the trouble. It doesn't really seem worth it, unless you decide the Defender isn't for you or your financial situation has changed.

It's so hard to find a vehicle that puts a smile on my face these days (at least in my income bracket, which was a big stretch to get into the Defender). There's more to life than just saving money, and the Defender is just too much fun to drive!

I kind of wonder if the vehicles will hold their value over the next several years and then taper off but much less than expected. I don't think it's a decision you necessarily need to make right away but I can understand the temptation. I do love mine, so I can't see myself bailing on it early unless it just becomes a no-brainer. I don't think we're there just yet.

I'm seeing 2020 S and SE's advertised on lots at $80-$85. I have a 22 with very few miles on it. I wouldn't consider letting the defender go for less than $10K over what I gave for it. With a little patience I could likely maximize profits on a private party sale. 6 months ago I would've thought selling this defender for that much was crazy but this summer ive traded in two Jeep's, both with over 30,000 miles for over $5K over original MSRP(no I didn't pay more for the new cars than they were worth to show higher trade in).

As far as getting an EV, I'd probably have to put in the time to find a cancelled order with a dealer that wasn't trying to add extra dealer mark up. Certainly not an easy thing theses days, but possible. I bought a Mach E earlier this summer like that under MSRP, but I talked to many many dealers before I came across that deal.

Yes. Sell it and get a LC Heritage Edition.
