Default CPO Years to Avoid

Folks,

Circling around a few 110s that fit the bill of my "asks:" Tasman Blue, tow hitch, full leather interior and a few smaller things. The ones I'm looking at, and are in my budget, are from 2020. All have servicing records, one CPO, the other from an Audi dealer. Both have some factory warranty remaining.

Big question is: all things being equal, are 2020 models to be avoided? Or is there a particular timeframe during that build year to avoid, or packages/add-ons known to be more problematic? I realize this question is highly subjective, and can vary wildly from car to car, but curious if there's an overall trend on the matter. I've had great experiences with first year models (328i, zero problems), and bad ones (X5, oil leaks, failed suspension, seat warmer fails, etc).

A current LR owner so know the brand and have a realistic approach to reliability and cost.

Thanks!

Nope. Mid 2020 benefits are fully optioned compared to subsequent years. My 2020 is as trouble free as my Escalade. Hence it will be a keeper.

i said this earlier but yes, 2020 is arguably more well equipped with features like the clearview rear view mirror , side collision sensors, and a sunglasses tray up top. all made from decent components from before covid.

Agreed on 2020. It has the same issues the other years have per se, but way more options.

my 2020 has been great and has all the boxes checked.

I agree with the 2020, Covid caused a parts shortage that dropped features mentioned above and others.

If one has a tow hitch I would recommend leaning towards that one, it is a big project to add one.

^ What everyone above said. We will keep our 2021 long-term but probably trade-in the 2023 this year now that I can order the features that were unavailable on our 2023.

Thanks folks for the thoughts, much appreciated. I also asked the local LR indy shop I've used for years on my P38 (sold, with much regret) and L322 (current daily driver, soon to be put up for sale) and their response was the only issues they've seen were software-related which is taken care of through updates but have found these cars to be mechanically sound and reliable overall (with proper care, of course).

It depends on the model you ordered, the only thing missing on my 23 X was the sun glass holder which I don't car about, so don't assume all 23's having missing features such as clear view mirror etc

From the 2020 model it is missing the click and go system as well as the alert system in the doors to let you know if a car is coming. It is also missing the soft close rear door. There may be other things but those are three I can think of off hand. Oh, probably two USB C ports in the second row as well.

These things were no longer standard, but still optional on early '22s (except soft close rear door.) I passed on Click & Go when I ordered on Feb 25, 2021 (the very beginning of 2022 Model year), but it was still available. Although by the time it was delivered (June, 2021) apparently many of the options were getting cancelled. I could have gotten 11" screen also, but didn't want it. I like the way the original screen fits between the bars. I have the two USB ports in Row 2 and the sunglass holder and the full digital instrumentation (that went away in 2023, I think, for awhile).
