Defender 110 - Is a ladder necessary for roof rack?
Got my Defender 110, and I am thinking about having the expedition rack installed so I could carry my kayaks with the defender. However, I am not so sure about the ladder since onece it's installed it will leave drill marks. Is there a way for you to use the roof rack without the ladder? How would you guys do it?

Another option is to order the Utility Rail from PowerfulUK: https://www.powerfuluk.com/collectio...3-110-left-kit I have one installed on the right side.

If you do a search on here, some folks have posted pics of ladders that they just keep in the boot. They kind of fold up real small. Hard to describe but you'll find them. Also, others have posted those things you can insert into the door latch but I worry I'll bend something with my fat bod. I have no problem just stepping up onto my wheel when I need to get up there, it works. Here's a couple other options for you:
Lucky8 sells a rear ladder. It's not cheap but it avoids the side issue.
When I tried my hand at the side Molle plates from PowerfulUk, I just purchased a couple extra trim pieces. The parts you cut were perhaps $100 (in pounds). I just ordered two so that I could sacrifice the ones I used when using it, pull the whole thing out when not. So, it's up to you if you want to just spend another $100 if you want to have a second trim or purchase later to replace the one you cut.
Good luck.
