Default Defender w/ AutoHome -- Total Height?

Hello everyone,

I have a new 110 on order, which my dealer says will be here in August. I already own an AutoHome Columbus RTT, which I think is the exact same model as the official Land Rover accessory. I've carried my AutoHome on a BMW X3 and also on a small trailer I custom-built for towing behind my Jeep.

I'd like to mount my tent on my new Defender when it arrives, and I am wondering about the total height of the Defender and AutoHome together. I'm not sure it will fit in my garage, so I'm hoping someone on this forum may have this setup and might be able to measure the height for me. I have searched, but can't find the exact measurement I need.

Just for fun, here are a couple pictures of my AutoHome on my other setups. Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

Myron

Did you order air suspension ?
If you did or maybe adjust your order you can go really low with the Llams height controller.
I can go as low as to 75"

Hi @Defendit,

Sorry, I guess that would've been good information to have. Nope, no air suspension, just the standard coils.

I was able to find out that the total height of the Defender on coils is about 78", and I saw a guy who measured the extra height added by the Expedition Roof Rack at 5", and I know my camper height is 12" at the tallest point. So that gets me to 95", which gets me pretty dang close to 8'. I measured my garage door last night and it's 7' 6" so I don't think the solution I had in mind will work.

But thanks for the help, and I love your 90.

Probably doesn't help much in this situation, but wanted to point out the expedition rack adds 5" from the roof, but only ~2.7" from the top of the antenna, which is the highest point of the defender and where the 78" total height is measured. Goodluck!

Actually that is helpful. It brings into the range of possibility a tire-deflation strategy just to get the camper loaded onto/off off the Defender. It might just work if I can find the lowest possible profile load bars from Thule or another manufacturer. Thanks!

@Defendit.. Could I bother you for a measurement? I see you have the low profile Thule load bars. I'm wondering how far above the top of the dorsal antenna the top surface of your load bars is?

Thanks!

I did make a new bracket, for using it whitout the Thule podiumfeet.
Now the top of the bars are 0.25" above the sharkfin antenna

Thanks for the picture @Defendit.. ! I really appreciate it. Not sure I'm following though -- what did you have to build a bracket for?

Adding the expedition rack adds 53mm over the top of the shark-fin. Lots of differing measures for this particular variable online. I've measured it myself. 53mm.

Stock height on coils can be found easily enough.

Thanks Gavin. Yes, as mentioned above, stock height is 78" to top of dorsal fin, and expedition rack adds 2.7" on top of that. I appreciate you confirming with a real-world measurement.

I have the official Land Rover branded auto home RTT. The official one is the Columbus variant (XL-small). I also put it on the expedition roof rack, so basically my setup is exactly the same as the "official" setup. I can clear 8ft'2 garages with some room left. My guess the total height is about 8' or less.
