Defenders redirect ?
@The Insider - Greetings. This is a question to which you may be able to respond, or not ... but here it is: now, that all shipments to Russia have been suspended, would that production be redirected to other states ( hint: I am really interested for the US ) ?
Thank you in advance.

I was thinking about this. Keep in mind I don't work for an auto manufacturer, but I have worked for companies that ship products to multiple regions and it's always a bit interesting when product is re-routed from one to another.
Some important differences that may make it a bit tough to swap regions. Different VIN #'s, some cars have VIN #'s on different places on different looking VIN plates (ie UK cars have had them on bottom of lower inner drivers door, US has in another spot), different stickers under the hood, that sort of thing.
So it would take LR a moment to repurpose cars destined for one market to another. It's not like you'd get a Russian car in March.
I would bet that any car designated for Russia would go to another ROW market before the US as there are probably rather annoying regulations to overcome to change to US EPA approved etc. Plus they're prob all diesel anyway lol

Land Rover employ between 600-700 Ukrainians at their Slovakian plant, and have offered to assist with evacuating their families to a place of safety

For the record, US, UK and China make up the majority of sales.

Surprisingly, we didn't sell a lot of volume in Russia to begin with (relative to the major markets), but yes, we're always examining where we need to allocate build slots. Cars that were already constructed for Russia though will not be headed to the US or UK.

All of the nice cars owned by monied Russians are probably in Monaco... and London, definitely Miami, LA...

Since Russians drive on the right side of the road I guess that any builds would get redirected to countries that do the same? So that leaves out countries like the UK, Japan, Australia and New Zealand? Or does it not work that way?
I wonder if production and delivery times are being affected by the war or is it too early to tell?
Great initiative by JLR to look after the families of their Ukrainian workers! Love hearing things like this in these terrible times. Well done to them!
