Default DHL Express Import Duty Payment

Just received an email from DHL Express after ordering from Powerful UK LTD, they are looking for an additional $42.95 for import duty fee or package will be shipped back if not paid.

I have ordered other accessories from PowerfulUK in the past without being charged this additional fee, just wanted to make sure this is not a SCAM.

Has anyone received such a charge from DHL in the past importing into the states?

I've ordered some barbour stuff from UK before and received duty fees. I believe if you spend more than $200 or something you receive a separate bill. Did you spend a similar amount on other items in the past compared to your most recent order?

Our printing company has a client with offices around the world that we ship printed materials to. We constantly get tax and duty bills from DHL, FedEx & UPS. They often come in months after the shipment was delivered. So yes, your bill is not a scam, especially if it came from DHL and your shipment was delivered by DHL.

Thanks for the quick responses. Previous orders were under $200, that would explain the duty tax.

Just wanted to confirm before my credit card information ended up in a scammers pocket.

PowerfulUK is still less expensive with shipping, duty tax and faster delivery than the same product on eBay.

Thank you,

What have you purchased from them and what were the shipping costs?

This recent order was the blacked out X taillights.
Final cost with everything shipping and duty tax was $1,162.45, eBay pricing $1,199.95.

Ordered on Monday and will be installing on Friday, not three weeks as quoted by eBay seller.

So shipping was in the $130 range? Thats not bad. I figured it would be higher. Maybe because you are on the east coast USA?

Shipping was 84.67 after currency conversion and duty tax was $42.58 for a total of $127.25.
Package was in Boston from across the pond this morning.
I would agree shipping from east - west coast would be a bit more.

They look awesome, your Gondwana wrap is so sharp! I thought real hard about wrapping but I love detailing my vehicles.

I also have the black package rear corners, but plan on replacing with gloss black factory corners, I think with X taillights with the body in Gondwana, it should look good and if I dislike just pop them off.
