Default DIY Raised Platform Bed

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving! What do you do when you have time off and are sitting around all day.....

Been wanting to build something like this for my car since I like to sleep in my car when camping. I noticed the first time that I put the seats down and laid in the back of the defender that the way the seat comes up you cant extend fully out (5'10).

Seat causing you to lose headroom

So I measured it out and that height was exactly 6 inches, this meant a 2x6 would be the perfect and easy height. So for ~$60 bucks I build a two part raised platform bed that you can fit a twin mattress on and have storage underneath. * I did originally build it on 2x6 but wanted 2 more inch of clearance to better fit chairs etc under the platform.

If I was recommending to build this again I would do it out of 2x8s instead of 2x6s just for the extra storage clearance. Built with -
  1. Piece of plywood that is cut into two 53 inches long and 24 inches wide
    1. Both are then notched to allow for access to the power outlet and tie down points.
  2. One 4x8 cut into 12, 4inch pieces
