Default GAP IID Tool Summary

Below is a copy and paste from the good work of Hairy Dan at Defender2.net. I thought I would post it here for others like myself in this forum to avail of. I just got my tool and hope this thread can be added to as more activations come on stream.

Thanks @Dan Hairy . I know you and other contributors on here have done the hard work but a unified thread does not exist here. Till now.

Cheers. Happy activations.

Great idea to put it all in one place here. Lots of info all over but one location works better for sure. Lots of fun to be had messing around figuring stuff out.

I've been trying tonight to do some simple activations. No success so far. It always says update failed at the end.

I'm sure it’s something I’m doing or not doing correctly.

The tool is activated and I’m able to use it for suspension height changes but no changes Wi-Fi or global close were successful.

I’m a bit of a dunce when it comes to this stuff. Seems it’s more complicated than I thought.

GAP-eLift works well.

Try updating the firmware on Gaptool IID. There was an issue several people were reporting on the other board that was same thing.. I think they were all people who'd just purchased Gaptool IID and were using it out of the box. I think a firmware update fixes it. It's a tool issue not a car issue?

No, we weren’t just using it out of the box. There was an issue with particular vehicles. Patrick had me try a couple custom firmware versions first, then went back to the original current firmware with I believe some other updated files and it’s been working great since.

Thanks. I’ll see if I can figure out how to update firmware.

I did click on update tool and it says it’s up to date but maybe the firmware is a different thing.

I’m a bit of a 40watt bulb when it comes to this stuff.

I’ll reach out to GAP too.

thanks for the advice
